Empire State Building - installation

Procedure to move Empire State building

READ THIS FIRST

Install

There are two choices. Either don the harnesses or lift with your hands. The straps will much better distribute the weight onto your shoulders and are recommended. See overleaf for harness instructions.

1.     Connect the harnesses (or use the handles) and lift.

2.     Either ask a third person to move the flightcase base – or walk slowly to one side to put down the plinth.

3.     Remove the straps and store inside plinth

4.     Add sand to sandbag (if required) and place inside plinth

5.     Affix door and remove key. Store key with other packaging – and somewhere it will not be lost!

6.     Use levelling feet to level plinth if necessary.

7.     Connect power to plinth

8.     Done!

De-Install

Do this correctly or you will damage the plinth, or yourself. Certainly, the next person to install the plinth will not thank you!

1.     Unplug the plinth and put the cable to one side

2.     Open door and remove sandbags

3.     Insert straps carefully. The central piece of the strap (not any excess) should be passed between the levelling feet and the flat base of the plinth. One strap to each short side (ie, the strap runs the length of the short side – this will make lifting easier).

4.     Check that the cable is not caught on the strap

5.     Don harnesses as overleaf – or use handles. Check that you have enough lifting height to lift it onto the fligthcase base

6.     Lift the plinth as you stand up.

7.     Either ask a third person to put the flightcase base into place, or walk sideways above the plinth.

8.     LEAVE THE STRAPS IN PLACE!!!!!

9.     Put the ends of the straps, harnesses, power cable, (empty) sandbag and anything else inside the base.

10.  Place the door into its’ protective sleeve. Put this inside the base.

11.  Attached the two sides to the flightcase.

Wearing and using the Harness – recommended

1.     Fit the straps as shown below:

2.     Connect the harness to the straps that are already placed underneath the plinth.

3.     Adjust the harness so that when you are in a position ready to lift, the straps are connected. You both be positioned as below. You will likely need to adjust the straps depending on your respective heights.

4.     Stand up, and as you lift, the weight will go with you;

Lifting by hand

1.     Follow the same procedure, but use the loops on the ends of the straps as handles.
