Brick Journeys @ The Pitt is open!

For those not in the know, every August Edinburgh transforms into a different city. The Edinburgh Festivals transform our city into the largest arts festival in the world - by some margin. There isn’t one festival but currently 4 happening concurrently. The Edinburgh International Festival, The Edinburgh Fringe festival, The Edinburgh International Book Festival, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, The Edinburgh Art festival and the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Over 2.5 million tickets were sold last year, with well over 50,000 performers taking part. To give you an idea of size, the only comparable events are the World Cup and the Olympics. Both in much larger cities!

So back in 2008 we decided to organise our own Edinburgh Fringe show to take part. It was incredibly hard work, but great fun. We had over 9000 visitors and opened our ‘studio’ to the public to take a look around. It’s only taken us 8 years to recover, so for 2025 Brick Journeys @ The Pitt is open!

I’ll be honest - this wasn’t something that we’d been planning on doing. There are other plans in the works, but it essentially it came down to a combination of circumstances. So, with only about 5 weeks to go - we jointly decided to plan and launch our second Edinburgh Fringe show!

‘The Pitt’ might not sound the most fancy of names, but it’s named after the original Pitt street market that the organisation used to run from. They’ve now moved to the north of Edinburgh and are building a new event/art/market/food etc etc venue. It’s a bit hard to explain - but it’s basically a funky arts hub with loads going on AND with this amazing view:

The view from The Pitt (no filter!)

Honestly - we’re right on the coast!

Just as importantly for us, they also have an event space! So for the first year ever, we’ve brought one of our full exhibitions to Edinburgh for just one month. This was a bit different of an install than our usual exhibitions as we were not only putting in the exhibition - but everything else you can now see in the exhibition. In the space of just 4 days, our team turned an empty room into a walk through exhibition;

From this…

To this! (Yes, you’re going to have to buy a ticket to see the real thing!)

So, if you’re in Edinburgh this summer - why not head down to The Pitt and take a look at Brick Journeys? Whilst you’re there - check out the food and drinks too, or just hang out in the market space. It’s honestly a really cool space and something we’re very happy to be involved with!
