Newsletter - May 2021

We have had our first tour open this month at the National Museum of Flight. Amazing to be back out building our tour in a venue! Full credit to the venue too, the COVID safe measures they have in place themselves and for visitors are so good and during build up certainly for us things were a little different. Building Concorde in situ was brilliant and in this months newsletter we are delighted to share the time lapse video. The tour has been a huge hit for the museum already and will be open until June 27th. It was also a great opportunity to use some of our new kit to support social distancing, more on that later too!

6-metre-long Concorde!

At the National Museum of Flight our first venue in 2021 for the Brick Wonders exhibiton, travel around the ancient, old, natural and new 'Wonders of the World' recreated in half a million LEGO bricks by Warren and the team. Plus as a special addition, the team created a Big Build of their own Concorde. Six metres long and made of over 60,000 2 x 4 bricks, it was built by the team over 4 days on-site directly under Concorde and will be on display throughout the exhibition.

Our timelapse video of the Concorde build gives you some idea of the work involved, but it was a great challenge and it’s fantastic to see our model underneath the real thing. For more detail on how we designed and built the model, you can read our blog post here.

COVID-19 safety & temporary walling panels

It’s been great working with such a good partner venue as the National Museum of Flight. Their COVID-19 safety measure have are excellent and work well with our new temporary walling panel. We introduced these panels to you in our March newsletter, but this is their first outing in a venue. If you’re interested in the detail of how they work, we’ve written it up in this blog post.
